How do I replace a whole word only, without touching longer words?
Use a RegEx rule with word boundaries. To replace a standalone i with I (without changing “instinct”), use \bi\b as the pattern. Plain-text rules always match everywhere, including inside other words.
Is matching case-sensitive?
Only if you remove the i flag. New rules are case-insensitive by default; uncheck “case insensitive” (or drop the i flag) to match exact case.
In what order do rules apply?
Top to bottom: collections in order, then rules within each collection. Each rule sees the previous rules' output, so rules can chain. Put the most specific rules first.
How do I stop replacement on a specific site?
Disable the extension for that host from the popup (premium), scope individual rules to the sites you want, or disable a collection/rule temporarily instead of deleting it.
Why is text still replaced inside inputs?
Inputs and textareas are processed unless a rule ignores them. Enable “ignore input” / “ignore textarea” on the rule, or add a custom CSS selector to its ignore list. Note some chat boxes (for example AI chats) are rich editors, not plain inputs. Ignoring input won't cover them; target their container with a selector instead.
What format does import/export use?
JSON: either a flat array of rules or an array of collections (each with a name and replacers). Invalid entries reject the whole file with an error message. Nothing is half-imported. Export always writes the collections format.
Do my rules or page text leave my device?
No. Rules live in browser storage and replacement runs locally. We only collect anonymous aggregate counts. See Privacy and Security.
Why won't my RegEx save?
Either the pattern is invalid (fix the syntax shown in the editor) or the rule is self-recursive. The pattern matches its own replacement, which would loop forever. Change the pattern or the replacement.
